Summer Essentials!

Hello lovelies!  Today I realized that summer officially begins on June 21!  So in honor of summer being right around the corner, here is my list of summer essentials which include a lot of waterproof and mattifying products to help my oily skin stay away from the oil-slick look.

A special shoutout to my blog-y buddy Makena at Makeup By Makena for collaborating with me on this post as well as the post on her blog with her summer essentials!  She’s a lovely blogger with great post ideas, and she’s so sweet!  She has great reviews of products that are actually helpful and informative without being boring at all!  You can click her link to check out her lovely blog and give her some love!

First I have some body lotion wipes from e.l.f. in the scent Vanilla Coconut.  These are great after a really hot day to just cool down and get a nice scent on my skin.  I always carry these with my to the beach especially when I’ll be covered in gross water and sand.  I think next I’d like to try the milk and honey scent because honey is one of my favorite things.

Next I have some different options for keeping my skin matte. First I use a mattifying gel moisturizer like the Olay Fresh Effects {DEW OVER}, this smells amazing and moisturizes so well but mattifys like a dream! I like to use my benefit license to blot as a primer and over my makeup with the help of oil blotting sheets. I have really oily skin and heat really adds to the shine, so I use these to really combat any shine (since they aren’t 100% 8 hour protection against oil, my skin has a super subtle glow to it!).  The oil blotting sheets I use are the e.l.f. ones and Clean and Clear to get rid of excess oil throughout the day.

I use the tarte clean slate poreless primer which really smooths my skin!  Next I like to use a light foundation with SPF like the BareMinerals BareSkin (in shade 02 in case you were wondering).  This has  SPF 20 which is a great start for SPF!  It comes in 20 shades which is amazing for getting the right undertone and shade!  This foundation is so light but is so easily buildable, it feels like nothing!  If my skin is having a particularly bad day, I use a waterproof concealer like the tarte Amazonian Clay waterproof 12-hour concealer (light).

As for hair, I like to use salt sprays to give me beachy waves all the time.  My two favorites are Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Spray and Harvey Prince Sea / Salt Hair Mist.  I love my waves being amped up with these sprays.  I got the Harvey Prince one in my May Birchbox so it’s the perfect size to take along with me while the Not Your Mother’s is more to keep at home.

For lips I like stains.  Of course I like a natural lip balm with SPF but I thought I’d show you my two favorite stains right now.  The first is theBalm stainiac in beauty queen which I got in this Birchbox.  It’s a beautiful pink shade and is similar to the other one I have which I got in my May Birchbox called Peripera Peri’s tint in Pink Juice.  It is very watery but I found that it did stain my lips.  If you want a lot of color go with the Peripera tint but if you want a sheer hue, go with theBalm.

Another must have is waterproof and long-wearing eye makeup.  My top waterproof mascara is Covergirl Lash Bloom because it is made to make your lashes soft which is an issue so many mascaras fail to address.  I also have one essence Stays No Matter What eye crayon in Cute Copper (unfortunately have been discontinued).  I recently got 3 Rimmel eye crayons, 1 Kate Moss and 2 Scandaleyes.  The Kate Moss in the shade Rose Gold, the Scandaleyes Waterproof eye shadow sticks in the shades trespassing taupe (matte taupe) and Bulletproof beige (shimmer light gold).
