TV Shows To Watch

I feel like I’m writing about Netflix/ TV Shows a lot more than I should be.. but hey, why not?  I think TV shows on Netflix are the perfect way to totally relax if you’re sick or stressed out.  Find good TV shows to watch with more than 4 seasons and you’ve got yourself a lot of relaxing to do.  Let’s do this awards show style!

Most heartwarming… The Fosters

With a biracial lesbian couple and a family of biological, adopted, and fostered children, there’s almost no plot line not explored by this show.  It makes me so happy to see a show with such diversity in its cast and plot.  It is smart, entertaining and really shows a more “real” family life with fighting and drama that some other shows dance around.

Most lighthearted/ best background noise… Friends

With 10 seasons of 22-minute episodes, there’s a near unlimited amount of fun and I’ve never met anyone who minded seeing an episode twice.  It’s so much fun seeing yourself in all the characters, I’d have to say I’m a Chandler.  I love how close they all are and how comfortable they are with each other no matter what happens.  If you’re looking for a crude humored episode for a laugh, I recommend season 3 episode 13.

Most likely to have you yelling at the TV… Gossip Girl

What a rollercoaster of a show this is!  With 5 Upper East Side teens, there’s bound to be drinking and drama…  I love that we get to see all parts of the lies and deception from all the characters and the casting is so perfect.  My favorite character is definitely Chuck (maybe Dorota) but I feel like there’s someone for everyone to relate to.       There are so many sub-plots and characters in and out that you will be throwing popcorn at the screen guaranteed.

Best old-time favorite… Summerland

Featuring young Jesse McCartney, Zac Efron, and Lori Laughlin (a.k.a. Aunt Becky from Full House), this has to be one of the best casts watching it 12 years later.  The episodes are 45 minutes and there’s 26 total so a good 2 days out of work and you’ll be lifted to a new level of appreciation for Zac Efron.  This is another show with great real-life experiences, 3 kids lose both their parents and move half-way across the country to live with their Aunt…who lives with 3 roommates.  Needless to say, there’s a lot going on but it’s another fantastic show.  Even though it isn’t on Netflix, you’ve got all you need right here (bless this person for having it all full on YouTube).

Best crime show… Monk

An old one but still one of my favorite shows.  There’s so many episodes but sadly it’s not on Netflix (you can buy seasons or episodes on Amazon) and I will keep you updated if I find them on YouTube.  Basically Adrian Monk is a former homicide detective and even though he had to leave because of his OCD he still helps out.  It’s so cool to see at the end when Monk picks up the smallest details to solve the case.  Might be a bit unrealistic but it’s a less gory version of some other crime shows.
